Our fully equipped Nursery room and outdoor environment provides Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) provision for our youngest children from the age of 2. This framework is built on the guiding principles of the uniqueness of every child, the importance of positive relationships, the key role of an enabling environment and a fundamental understanding of how children learn and develop. The overriding emphasis is on the learning through planned, purposeful play. We always begin by building upon the learning the children have already experienced at home. Our starting point is always the children’s interests, as we promote the development of positive attitudes, excellent behaviour and the skills needed to be good learners.
Forming strong bonds with the staff that care for your child throughout the day is vital. We assign each child a Key person who is primarily responsible for guiding the development of each child through warm and positive interaction, ensuring that the learning and care is tailored to meet their individual needs. To achieve this successfully all children have a Learning Journal that is a unique record of their development. These are used to plan the next stage of your child’s learning.
We believe in a positive partnership and aim to work co-operatively with parents to ensure that every child feels included, secure and valued. Continuity between home and school is a priority in early years education. For many children this may be the first time they have been in a group setting away from home. Our aim is to make the transition to school a smooth process whilst encouraging your child to be as independent as possible.
Our aim is for every child to enjoy their learning journey, celebrate their achievements and become independent thinkers. We seek to encourage children’s natural curiosity by providing plenty of opportunities to investigate and explore both inside and outside. We encourage our children to try new activities and experiences and to persevere. We achieve this by planning the learning environment and interactions to provide an appropriate balance of adult-led and child-initiated activity.
Our Educational Programme covers the 7 inter-connected areas of Learning and Development. It is broad based, structured and ensures progression and continuity.
